Vivatro wins IÖB-Challenge in Villach with PV façade solution

How can modern glass façades not only impress architecturally, but also actively contribute to the energy transition? This question was the focus of the 70th PPPI Challenge of the city of Villach - and Vivatro was able to present one of the two winning solutions.

As part of the Innovation Dialogue, several companies presented their ideas for the sustainable use of glass façades. Our concept THE SUN WALL shows how sophisticated photovoltaic solutions can be integrated directly into the façade - without compromising on design or functionality. This results in buildings that not only look modern, but also actively generate electricity and make a contribution to climate protection.

In addition to Vivatro, the company Energie-Interessen e.U. also received an award for its solution - both approaches were presented independently of each other.

What is the PPPI Challenge?
PPPI (Innovation-Promoting Public Procurement) is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs (BMAW) and Bundesbeschaffung GmbH (BBG). It supports public bodies in finding innovative solutions to current challenges - and brings companies and public clients together in the process.

The regular PPPI Challenges are a targeted search for innovative ideas that bring real added value to cities, municipalities and public institutions. The aim is to identify new technologies and creative approaches at an early stage and make them usable for the public sector.

Topic of the 70th PPPI Challenge:
"Power generation through glass façades - innovative solutions for the Congress Center Villach & voco® Villach"

As part of the challenge, the city of Villach was looking for concepts on how the existing glass façade of the CCV/Voco Villach could be used for sustainable energy generation in the future - technically feasible, economically viable and architecturally appealing.
