The new Raiffeisen Mittelkärnten Center of Excellence in Althofen is a striking example of how modern architecture and photovoltaics can form a powerful team today. The building not only makes a statement architecturally but also consistently harnesses the sun as an energy source—in a way that is functional, aesthetically pleasing, and sustainable. This is exactly where we were able to fully showcase our strengths.
Photovoltaics that do more than just generate electricity
A particular architectural highlight is the building’s striking cube. Its façade is fitted with 36 large-format PV glass modules, which were custom-made specifically for this project. Measuring 380 × 160 cm, they collectively deliver approximately 23 kWp of power, turning the facade itself into an active component of energy generation—technically efficient and seamlessly integrated into the architecture.
Just as striking—and definitely an eye-catcher—are the photovoltaic modules in a custom orange color, which were installed to serve as active sun protection. They provide pleasant shade for the office spaces while generating approximately 13 kWp of solar power. A fine example of how function, design, and sustainability come together.
The energy plan is supplemented by additional photovoltaic systems:
a 24 kWp system on the flat roof of the main building and a 36 kWp system on the carport. In total, Raiffeisen Mittelkärnten now has approximately 100 kWp of in-house solar power at its disposal.
Advanced technology, multiple trades—a seamless collaboration
On this project, our experts were not only responsible for installing all of the photovoltaic systems. We also handled the installation of the perforated metal facade, the coordination of all metalwork, and the complete electrical installation of the PV systems.
Different module types, custom formats, facade and roof solutions, as well as numerous interfaces, required precise coordination and meticulous craftsmanship. This is precisely where our strength lies: We don’t view photovoltaics in isolation, but as an integral part of the entire building—technically sound, aesthetically harmonious, and reliably implemented.
